Updating Theme
To update a Katen theme, you generally need to follow these steps:
Download the latest version of the theme: Visit the Themeforest website and log in to your account. Go to your "Downloads" section, find the Katen theme, and download the latest version of the theme files. Make sure you're downloading the correct theme and version.
Backup your website: Before making any updates, it's crucial to create a backup of your WordPress website. This will allow you to restore your site in case something goes wrong during the update process.
Update via WordPress dashboard: There are typically two ways to update a theme. The first method is through the WordPress dashboard.
1. Go to "Appearance" -> "Themes" in your WordPress admin area. 2. Activate a different theme temporarily (preferably a default WordPress theme). 3. Deactivate the current version of the Katen theme you want to update. 4. Delete the old version of the theme. Don't worry, this won't delete any of your theme settings or content. 5. Click on the "Add New" button at the top and upload the latest version of the Katen theme that you downloaded from Themeforest. f. Install and activate the new version of the Katen theme.
Update via FTP: The second method of updating a theme involves using FTP (File Transfer Protocol) to upload the updated theme files directly to your server. This method is useful if you encounter any issues with the WordPress dashboard update process.
1. Connect to your website's server using an FTP client (e.g., FileZilla, Cyberduck). 2. Navigate to the "wp-content/themes/" directory. 3. Locate the folder of the old Katen theme version. 4. Rename the old theme folder (e.g., "katen" to "katen-old"). This step ensures that you have a backup of the old version. 5. Extract the contents of the katen files you downloaded from Themeforest. 6. Upload the katen folder to the "wp-content/themes/" directory. 7. Go to the WordPress dashboard, and the updated version of the theme should be available for activation.
